52: Simple, Sequential, Stunning: Art Appreciation with Daily Art Courses

[00:00:00] Welcome back Harmony Heroes. This is Gena Mayo from Music in Our Homeschool, where we help you confidently and easily include a quality fine arts education in your homeschool. Today we're diving into a topic that will enrich and inspire you in your homeschooling experience. And it's called Enrichment Studies Daily Art Courses.

Are you looking for an easy way to go deeper with art appreciation or art history? Something sequential, relatable, and click and go simple? Well, Daily Art has you covered. Stay tuned to learn how this program can transform your family's art appreciation and art history journey.

[00:01:00]

Picture this, your teen is connecting Rococo art to Enlightenment philosophy, or your preschooler is recognizing van Gogh's brush strokes in a doctor's office painting. This isn't fantasy, it's what happens when art becomes a part of your daily rhythm.

Here's the thing, art provides a visual narrative of history, culture, and human expression. It enhances critical thinking, creativity, and even empathy. In our screen dominated world, art study develops three crucial skills. Visual literacy. It helps children decode imagery in advertisements, news, and social media. Number two is historical empathy. It helps them understand perspectives through centuries of creativity. And creative problem solving. Your students will learn to analyze how masters overcame their artistic challenges.

Yet most homeschool moms feel [00:02:00] unequipped to teach art appreciation. That's where Daily Art transforms "I wish" into "We did it!" Daily Art courses are designed to make art appreciation effortless, engaging, and educational for homeschool families.

Whether you're following a Charlotte Mason philosophy and her ideas of picture study or artist study, a classical education, or any homeschool philosophy for that matter. You might simply be looking for a meaningful family learning during morning time. Well, Daily Art fits seamlessly into your routine.

So what exactly is Daily Art? Daily Art includes five done for you, click and go online courses that combine the ease of Fine Art Pages that we talked about last week, so go back and listen to that episode if you missed it, with the power of video based learning, all presented in a super simple format. Each course is organized chronologically, [00:03:00] allowing your family to journey through art history, meeting famous artists, including incredible women artists, along the way.

Here's what you can expect. Biographical information: you'll get to know the artists behind the masterpieces. Art analysis: you'll explore detailed discussions often filmed by experts in world renowned museums. You'll get historical perspective: you'll learn to understand the cultural and historical context of each artwork. And sometimes there are some coordinating art projects, some hands on to help reinforce the learning.

Plus, you get access to the Fine Art Pages that go along with the course. You'll be able to download these and display them in your home or put them in your art notebook, or you could even order a printed set that will be sent to your home. So head back over to listen to podcast episode number [00:04:00] 51 where we talked all about Fine Art Pages.

One of the best features is that Daily Art isn't just for one particular age group. It's an excellent resource for high school credit. Your student can use it for high school fine arts credit, but the bonus materials like the artist study notebook and copywork pages make it have added depth for all ages.

Imagine this, your high schooler will earn art appreciation credit while your younger kids engage in the same material during your homeschool morning time. It's family style learning at its best.

Daily Art also complements other subjects in your homeschool beautifully. Are you studying the Renaissance in history? We'll dive into the works of Da Vinci and Michelangelo. Are you studying European history? Then discover the art of Rubens, Rembrandt, and Vermeer. Or maybe you're studying American history. You'll love learning about the works of the [00:05:00] American painter Gilbert Stewart. Art will become a visual anchor, helping your kids recall historical events and cultural shifts more vividly.

Daily Art not only fits into your homeschool life, but enriches it. So now I'd like to tell you a little bit about each of the five Daily Art courses. First we have Daily Art Renaissance. It's a 15 week art appreciation program designed to deepen your understanding of Renaissance art in a sequential, relatable, and easy to follow format. You'll journey through the Renaissance period getting to know 18 renowned artists, including notable women artists. You get biographical insights, historical context, and art analysis. And some of the artists you'll study are Donatello, Bellini, Boticelli, Bosch, da Vinci, Raphael, El Greco, and Barbara Longhi.

The second course is Daily Art [00:06:00] Baroque and Dutch Golden Age. This one is a 14 week art appreciation program and gives you a structured journey through the Baroque period and the Dutch Golden Age focusing on 16 artists. Some of them you will study are Caravaggio, Diego Velazquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Elisabetta Serrani. This course is an excellent supplement for those studying the historical period from 1588 to 1750.

Next is Daily Art Rococo, a 15 week art appreciation program designed to make learning about Rococo art simple and enriching. You'll introduce your students to 24 influential artists, including Antoine Watteau, Bellotto, de la Tour, Alan Ramsey, Joshua Reynolds, Thomas Gainsborough, Benjamin [00:07:00] West, Gilbert Stewart, and Elizabeth Vigée Lebrun. This course pairs perfectly if you're studying the 18th century.

Next is Daily Art Neoclassical, an 11 week art appreciation program, that focuses on 20 renowned artists including Piranesi, Subias, Joseph Wright of Derby, John Singleton Copley, Jacques Louis David, John Trumbull, and Angelica Kauffman.

And then the final course is Daily Art Impressionism, an 11 week art appreciation program that offers a structured journey through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on 10 renowned artists including Manet, Degas, Mary Cassatt, Monet, Berthe Morisot, Renoir, and Joaquin Sorolla.

Now how do you get started with Daily Art? [00:08:00] It's very simple. First you'll enroll in the course. There's no start or end date. It's self paced with lifetime access. Then each day that you want to do some art appreciation, you log in, click, and go. The videos are short, usually four to five minutes, and they're perfect for busy families.

You can use the included Fine Art Pages to display in your home or print them and put them in a three ring binder, or if you prefer not to print anything, you can simply view them online.

There are lots of bonus materials included such as an art appreciation Notebooking journal so you can use that alongside your learning as well.

And just start small. Begin with 10 minute sessions, two times a week. Consistency beats marathon sessions.
